SOUND OF THE DOLDRUMS
- A NOISE ROCK MUSICAL -
Synopsis:
After causing a fatal accident, a musician loses his hearing - except the sounds he hates the most.
Director statement:
My goal was to portray depression in a highly condensed, expressionistic form.
I also wanted to see how far I could stretch the concept of a DIY film; to find out how much can be done by just me, at home, with whatever equipment, instruments, tools and props were lying around. I set my budget to zero and maintained that until hiring professional mixing and mastering engineers for the soundtrack at the end.
I appreciate homemade quality with rough edges and consciously avoid the use of AI in my work.
I wear my influences on my sleeve: Eraserhead, La Jetée, Takashi Ito, Abel Ferrara, Paul Schrader, The Birthday Party, Swans… but I aimed to create something that looks and sounds distinctively its own. Thanks for your attention!
